After 7 incredible, inspired, tiring, and ultimately fulfilling years, it is with bittersweet feelings that I'm announcing the final day of business for 20twenty as September 11th, 2011.

Those who know me well, know this is a decision I've debated for the past couple of years, and was an extremely difficult one to make. This has less to do with finances, and more with my direction as a human, and small business owner.

20twenty was my baby, the first thing I ever gave myself to fully, but it was also just a start. Anyone who has a built a business from the ground up, will tell you how consuming it is. It becomes apart of your family, your social life....

The closure of 20twenty will allow me to grow and create in ways not possible now.

I'm so thankful to the 100's of artists that showed their artwork on our walls, sold their creative goods in our store. It was fun.

Of course special love to all the amazing employees I've had over the years, and the customers who've supported 20twenty. I've been working in the store the past 3 weeks, and I can say without a doubt, serving such kind, rad people has always been a big part of why I wanted a retail space originally.

Seattle is an amazing city, I feel blessed to have been apart of this neighborhood and community for so long.

What's next?

Cairo and more Cairo. I won't say that I've been playing favorites, but I kind of have for awhile now....

More than just a retail space, Cairo has helped me understand what a space without limitations can look like. It's a retail store, online store, a silkscreening studio, event creator, and now record label.

What Cairo does, is more of what I want to focus on and keep creating. If you haven't had a chance to come by check it out, I hope you will soon. And if you live in a nice sunny place, you may be getting a Cairo in your town soon....just sayin.

Hey Cat Lovers....

Ballard's First Ever International Cat Show at 20twenty!

That was, until legal informed us that having live cats flown in from all over world present a small liability. And accounting said it'd cost a small fortune. We've come up with a nice compromise!

Ballard's First Ever International Cat ART Show at 20twenty...and we need submissions!

We will choose 15 pieces inspired by cats, and they will be on display in the store as part of Ballard's monthly art walk in August.

You are welcome to submit as many pieces as you want! But 20twenty can only select 15.

To be considered please send an image of your piece to 20twenty.manager@gmail.com no later than June 30th. the Cat Show will accept all mediums, and will be juried by a panel of small mice.

If you've been in 20twenty recently you may have noticed that we have started offering a small selection of magazines. Fine Line is an quarterly magazine that comes from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Meet Cassandra and Jessica, the masterminds behind Fine Line!

When/Where/Why did you start Fine Line?

Our first issue was released November 19^th 2010, right here in Milwaukee. It is a follow up project to The Armoury Gallery which ran from January 2008 – May 2009. Cassandra and I both enjoyed the curatorial process and wanted to continue working in the arts, but needed something without the limitations imposed by a physical space. We see it not only as an extension of the gallery, creating in essence an art book or printed gallery, but further, something we hope people find inspirational and return to in the future, while simultaneously cultivating an appreciation for art and supporting the art
community.

What particularly about your work are you most proud of?

Our commitment to quality work and staying true to our vision of being ad free. We’ve had lots of people suggest that we should have advertising if we want to be sustainable, but we’re sure that in the long run people will appreciate what we’re doing and that will sustain itself.

What inspires you most?

Attention to detail and fine craftsmanship stand out as details that never fail to get our attention. Also, anything that is able to capture that essence of wonder and excitement commonly associated with travelling, foreign cities and

vintage/antiques.

What is your favorite movie?

I’d say, collectively, our favorite movie is the Royal Tenenbaum’s. Although we have personal favs, that’s probably the one we most agree on.

Best vacation ever?

Jessica and I actually took the best vacation ever together. After college we spent a year saving up money and then traveled a complete circle around the world. It took us 6 months and it was the most amazing experience ever. You can see photos on our flickr account.

Coffee or Tea?

Both!

Favorite Museum/Gallery?

When we were traveling we both fell in love with the Armoury at the Kremlin in Moscow. It houses all of this old weaponry, jewelry and household items that used to belong to the tsars. The stuff is over-the-top elaborate. Everything they used was completely decorated in the most meticulous way. It was amazing.

Preferred Magazine/Quarterly besides your own?

Esopus, Cabinet, and Dossier – because they have a thoughtful approach to the medium and the content presented is always of the highest quality.

If you could be fluent in a language besides english what language would you choose and why?

(Cassie) I would pick Spanish because I want to travel in South America some day.

(Jessi) Although Spanish seems like the wiser choice, I’d probably go with German, either so I could live in Germany (Berlin), or more likely because of my 3 years studying it.

Where would you like to see Fine Line in 5 years?

Still going strong. We’d like to reach the level of more popular arts magazines like Juxtapose. We hope to keep growing and to someday make this our main job.

Tomorrow evening from 5pm-8pm 20twenty will be hosting the opening of Sunrise Sunset, new work by Anna Wetzel.

Please stop by and say hello!

Sunrise Sunset is a series of small works on paper, delicately painted to evoke the realism of blossoming flora and the seasonal shift we observe therein. With the incorporation of spontaneously applied pattern and tropical hues, these silhouettes are preserved in a new, imagined climate amidst the cyclic bloom and decay of the natural world.

Anna Wetzel was born in Kansas City, Missouri and currently lives and works in Seattle. She received a BFA in Visual Art from Kansas State University, and was a 2008 member of Oax-i-fornia, California College of the Art’s experimental design program. Her work has been shown in Seattle, as well as internationally in Glasgow, Scotland and Oaxaca, Mexico. Anna was awarded the CityArts Magazine Best Of Art Walk Award in May 2010.

Meet Willie Nelson and Penny Lane!

Willie and Penny dropped in 20twenty this afternoon with their mom Sara and I couldn't help taking their picture.

Where do you work?

Willie: I'm a photographer, but right now I teach pottery classes at Loyal Heights Community Center.

Penny: Found a collection of vintage aprons estate sale in Lake Forest Park. I love wearing them around the house.

Chances are you've spied his necklaces in the store. Recently Niles Armstrong of Worn Path (from Portland, OR) answered a few questions about his necklaces, life, and what inspires him.

When/Where/Why did you start Worn Path?

I started Worn Path in Portland, OR about a year ago. I had made necklaces for myself that people seemed to be interested in. My co-worker asked me to make her a necklace. I did and that spawned more requests. I continue to mostly focus on special orders and a few stores. This is more of a hobby than anything.

What particularly about your work are you most proud of?

Keeping prices low even when I feel like people might pay more. I am not trying to make a living off of this and I just want most anyone to be able to have one of my necklaces if they want it. My personal values are anti-capitalist and I hope to live that out as much as I can in my artistic projects. And if someone makes something rad, I love trades over money exchange.

What inspires you most?

Nature... Forests, deserts, oceans, islands, mountains, outer space, farmlands. Revolutionaries. Nature defenders. Truth seekers and truth tellers. Acting with integrity. Skateboarding.

What was your first job?

I took and filled orders at a bakery in Birmingham, Alabama when I was just about to turn 16. Birthday cakes, cookies, etc. I took the orders and boxed them up. I worked everyday after school and on Saturdays so I could pay for my car insurance.

Favorite author?

Hermann Hesse changed my life when I was 25.

Favorite band/artist/designer?

I will just say Leonard Cohen's first three albums never get old. So dense. I think they are perfect.

Coffee or Tea?

The PNW has me spoiled. Plain black coffee always, if it is how I like it. Otherwise, I'd go for tea. I kind of dislike how particular living up here can make you about your coffee.

Favorite Museum/Gallery?

I really liked some shows I saw in San Francisco at Yerba Buena and also at Needles and Pens in the past.

Preferred Magazine/Quarterly or Book?

Be Here Now by Ram Dass is fun to thumb through. Any retrospective on skateboarding and skate graphics are great to look at. Books on handmade houses like Shelter and Handmade Houses: a guide to the woodbutcher's art. The People's History of the United States of America is really important. These are all books that you can revisit from time to time and get something from them.

Where would you like to see Worn Path in 5 years?

If I am having fun with it and staying true to my goals, moving right along. If it is not fun or inspiring for me, dead and gone.

The High School Band jacket!

This is so cool!

5 reasons why I love this jacket:

1. It's for a girl (the front says Mary).

2. The color combo is OUT OF SIGHT. Navy blue and red/orange?

3. It's a band jacket! (little known fact: I LETTERED in orchestra in high school. Never got the jacket because I was too alt.)

4. I found one matching glove in the pocket. Just one.

5. It's from 1993, and the nineties are the coolest thing ever right now.

6. The O looks like a 0 which reminds me of a bully. Like "what a zero!" or something along those lines.

(I was trying to look really tough in the last picture, like a high school bully)

(Also, this very well could be from a college marching band, but lets just agree that it's cooler as a High School jacket)

On this particular day in the PNW spring isn't totally in the air. But guess what, it's April. That means we should probably start thinking about what to wear when it stops hailing (but seriously, am I going to be the 1,000,000,000th person in this city to complain about the weather...uhhhh).

Hana Schooley

I was born in Seattle and I am currently living in Pullman, Washington while
finishing my Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Although my education is
in architecture, I have an interest in art as well. I continue to draw
because I feel art has the ability to speak for itself. **

Units

My favorite tool is the pen. It is unforgiving, permanent, and allows one
to express an idea of any complexity through simple means. Using a
ballpoint pen and a simple unit to create a greater image allows me to
express and work through a variety of ideas in a consistent way. Some of
the drawings are quick thoughts, which I sketch and later elaborate on, and
others are more comprehensive ideas that remain on one piece of paper from
start to finish.

Imri will be showing a collection of photographs taken while on an extended stay in Italy. He will also have hand made books and hand dyed tote bags available.mri believes that the story of modern italy is a quiet one. great empires, monumental construction, radical periods of cultural change and political upheavals have given way to a regular stream of tourists, yellowed churches, and the steady hum of capitalism. His post production emphasizes the emptiness of these quiet compositions. Something is missing, but it surely isn't forgotten.

Something Like That.

Sacha Peet was born in Southern California and is currently living in
Seattle where she is attending the University of Washington to earn a
BA in Interdisciplinary Visual Art and Sociology. She publishes her
own zines and is the author of the blog Living The High Life
(www.sachapeet.com). Sacha’s artwork was recently featured on the
cover of Seattle’s weekly newspaper The Stranger. Her artistic
endeavors include pen and ink drawings and printmaking.

Ulrika Larsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden and lived there until
2004 when she quit the city for Seattle. Ulrika attended Konstskolan
in Stockholm for two years where she studied visual art. Her resume
includes various projects with drawing, etching, and drypoint. Ulrika
is a drummer in the band Detective Agency, the mother of a successful
Boston terrier and a part-time magician. She does not have a blog.

Something Like That? is the first time these two friends have
collaborated artistically and also the first time either of them have
shown their work at 20twenty. When asked about the content of this
show, they both agreed that it was “just [us] putting lines on paper”.

The Puffy Coat/Vest!

There is something I have always loved about the figure-compromising shape of a puffy coat or vest. Let's be real, they're not the most flattering things in the world but I really think that ads to their appeal. There is something really awesome, and kind of adorable about walking around as ball of fluff. Think about all of the cool things you can compare that to: adorable baby duck, or a cool snow man, a little panda bear, a hostess sno ball, a pile of feathers. The list is literally endless. Not to mention THEY'RE SO WARM! We have puffy coats and vests in a rainbow of colors and a wide variety of styles.

P.s...Is anyone else thinking about The Rain video after reading that? Check out Missy Elliot in the puffiest ensemble I've ever seen here.

Jackson Quall: New Works

Jackson Quall is a 25 year old photographer and disk jockey by profession, who's a barista in Madison Valley in his spare time. He was born in Mount Vernon, enjoyed his adolescence in Everett, and from high school on has lived primarily in Seattle. His father being a photographer himself, started Jackson off young, gladly letting him loose with his camera. He has been shooting steadily since.

"This series of photographs has been taken over the last few months. For the sake of simplicity I'll say they are improvised. I used spontaneity to my fullest advantage. I have my camera and a tripod with me most all the time and I always keep an open mind. I don't hesitate to set up a shot if I feel it necessary, but rarely do I come up with the concept more than a moment before I shoot. I photograph anything around me I think is beautiful or interesting or that I think could result in a powerful image." - Jackson Quall

This happens from time to time...someone comes in the store and says "Oh my god I totally had a sweater just like this!" Or "Holy moly! I wore this dress to prom!" This happens, of course because manufactures make more than one shirt or jacket for a line of clothing (but saying that kid of takes the magic out of this blog post doesn't it?). Also, to my knowledge no one has ever uncovered their exaaaaact same sweater, pair of pants, or shoes etc.

Poncho Sweatshirt/ Drug Rug/Hippie Blanket Pullover

It really doesn't matter what you want to call it. It is cool, and it's going to keep you warm. Your older pothead cousin probably had one in the 90's. My little sister's guitar teacher had one when we were in elementary school, he also had a huge Jamaican flag on his ceiling (ya dig?). But that's beside the point. No longer for sage toting, incense burning, kombucha brewing Seattle types. The fine folks over at 20twenty want you to come help us celebrate our first time
hosting an all-women’s art opening! This show combines seven incredible local
female artists in one great big super-show. All of these ladies work in mediums
across the board, but share one thing in common: They continuously inspire and
never cease to amaze, in their craft, talent, styles, attitudes and life views. We
are excited to show some of the most beautiful fiber art, soft sculpture, paintings
and collages we’ve ever seen. And lucky us! The wonderful Shana Cleveland of
The Curious Mystery will be playing some special tunes towards the end of the

The Bolo Tie.

As the end of the season draws near, help us celebrate over at 20twenty with a brand new series of photographs honoring the best moments of summer. These beauties capture the adventures had at home and abroad with the friends and family closest to us. This collaborative show joins two incredibly talented photographers who are both able to capture light and people in interesting and strange ways.

John Barker is from Seattle, WA. He lives and works in Oakland, CA.
His photographs capture scenes in which something just happened or is
about to happen. He uses a Nikon D70.

Virginia Wilcox lives and works in Seattle, Washington. She received her BFA in Photography from Bard College in 2008, and studied abroad at Parsons Paris in the Spring of 2007. Virginia takes photographs throughout rural America, intrigued by Americana kitsch and vacant roadside lots.

Joel Leshefka spends his Seattle days running two retail/art spaces, completing absolutely mundane tasks such as: filing taxes, organizing employee schedules, purchasing toilet paper and plastic cups for art openings, paying license, insurance, and city fees, doing more taxes, sweeping cigarette butts off of the sidewalk, sending out press releases, battling with storage of off-season clothing, telling bands how to arrive via I-5, managing email lists & and going to the bank to get change.

What he really loves...is to get in his car and spend weeks in every corner of the Western United States. Where space is unlimited and buildings aren't torn down, they're just abandoned...

The early advocates of Manifest Destiny probably figured this out somewhere in South Dakota, then continued to have their minds blown through Wyoming, Utah, and all the way to the Oregon Coast. The few that headed south to New Mexico and Arizona, must have felt like they were on another planet. For a kid that grew up in the Northwest, surrounded by lush mountains and trees that always seem to be in the way, Joel Leshefka is consistently reinvigorated to find that the West is mostly still the same as those first explorers found it...

It's unruly, it's isolating and off-putting, inconvenient, and utterly cinematic in it's beauty...any human on this earth can still get lost in the West. This series of photographs document some of his travels.

What motivates us to pick up and start over in new cities, jobs and communities? When do we decide that the prospect of a fresh beginning, however uncertain is worth leaving the comfort of familiarity behind? This series explores the state of the in-between: It explores the limbo between past and future loves, friends and communities; it is the place where homesickness lives.
Christine Tran’s collection of photographs convey the confusion of physically being in one place, while belonging socially and emotionally to another. The images are of people and places close to her, yet they are staged. Like the effects of distance and the daydream of home, the distinction between memory and reality is blurred, and her photographs exist as both fact and fiction.

Christine Tran lives and works in Seattle. She holds an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Her series began as an exploration of nostalgia and longing during bouts of homesickness. Currently, her work continues through the examination of what happens when one comes back.

The Only Thing Separating You From Everything Else is Time is an exhibition of photographs which draw from the experience of taking the Trans-Siberian Railroad - the longest continuous rail line in the world. Though the geography and composition of the train's interior was in a state of constant flux, time emerged as the only measure from the outside world that remained relevant. Time – and the concepts of distance and speed inherently bound to it – became the most succinct connector between the body, other objects and passengers enclosed within the train, and the ever-changing external environment outside of it. Train travel complicated the traditional notion of linear time, fragmenting the concept into perceived (biological) time, actual (local) time, and train time (train schedules were always noted in Moscow time). The resulting images contextualize the formation of spatial and philosophical relationships between objects through these kaleidoscopic definitions.

The photographs within the exhibition look to find universal commonalities between objects and behaviors. Images made during the journey are presented within a larger continuum of events that occurred before and after, further exploring temporality as a unifying factor across varying contexts of everyday experience. In creating a disparate network of documents that are tenuously and temporally related, the viewer is encouraged to uncover hidden meanings, forge unexpected connections, and construct a variety of conclusions.
Artist Biography:

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Jennifer Mao now lives and works in Seattle. She will be graduating this spring from the University of Washington with degrees in Photography and Psychology. She is interested in anything and everything, including but not limited to: everyday magic, chain reactions among things and people, and pictures of cats on the internet.

Derek Bourcier Habitually working in found object sculpture, Derek Bourcier currently lives in Portland, Oregon where he makes objects that explore concepts of sound, skateboarding and public space while maintaining a deep connection with everyday life. He's currently earning his MFA from Portland State University.

Jesse Brown is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Seattle, Wa. His work has been exhibited at galleries in Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Berlin, London and Paris.

Jesse's work is often an exploration in geometric forms, pattern, shape and repetition which display a very clean, graphic quality. He is know for working in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, murals, artist books, installation, video and animation.

Mike de Leon is a photographer who belongs to The Mystic Sons of Morris Graves and the Nice Bad Boys Club (NYC Chapter). He was born just outside Pittsburgh, in the small town of Beaver, PA; raised in Olympia, WA; exhausted ages 18 through 23 in Seattle, WA; and now the 24 year old wobbles around Brooklyn, NY. He started shooting photos passionately at age 16. After high school he attended New Market (a trade school), where he focused on digital-photo-retouching. His photoshop immersion supplied the necessary skills to land an internship with the highly regarded, Seattle based photographer: Spike Mafford. The internship turned into a job and from 2004-2009 Mike worked as Mafford's Photo Assistant and Retoucher; In addition during 2006-2008 he worked as a Drum Scanning Technician, for Seattle's reputable, digital-imaging company: Imago Imaging. Mike's personal photography is well described as -Optical Poetry. His work has been featured in numerous Seattle art shows, and published in The Stranger, Thrasher, Vice Magazine, and Dazed and Confused. Earlier this year Mike completed the photography, design, layout, and introductory writing for an art-book spotlighting Seattle based, Oil Painter: Jesse Edwards; Presently the book's printing, marketing, and distribution terms are under negotiation. The two biggest future goals for Mike are to shoot oozing-cool, photo editorials for the best magazines in existence, and to publish his own brand of interestingly themed, photography books that will gain the hearts of teenage girls worldwide.

Lauren Max is a photographer who currently lives in Seattle, she attended the Commercial Photography program at Seattle Central, and has shown through out the city. Her current favorite hobby is getting lost in nature and finding inspiration in the trees.

Stacey Rozich studied Illustration at California College of the Arts in San Francisco and has since returned to her hometown of Seattle, Washington to paint and study Graphic Design at Seattle Central. Her work is a personal mythology of folkloric watercolor and gouache illustrations that is very pattern and textile-inspired. Tribal animal masks, witch doctors, optical designs and delicately brushed beasts are the main feature while a narrative about an early culture and their relationship with nature and animals is the backdrop. She invites the viewer to come up with his or her own interpretation of the work. Whether it's a very nostalgic reaction or a sense of these tales being long forgotten yet hauntingly familiar.

Sarah Sandmanis a designer, artist and community organizer living and working in Brooklyn. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Kansas and the Fachhochschule Trier, and has worked as a senior designer and art director for several communication agencies in Seattle and New York City. In May 2009, she received her MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design where she and designer Melissa Small co-authored their master's thesis "1+1=3: Building Social Capital Through Communication Design." Their collabortive work explores the power of memes, participation, design mediation, online and offline social networking, and gift economics to strengthen communities. Sandman has been a visiting lecturer and critic at Parsons, the Minneapolis College or Art and Design, the Fashion Institute of Technology and Syracuse University. She is an active member of the art collective Hit Factorie which runs a nationwide artist grant effort called FEAST and is currently curating a performance piece for Portland's Open Engagement Conference. As a meditative exercise which supports her creative practice, Sandman continues to build her ongoing body of drawings, the Cellular Automata Series, an analog response to John Conway's, Game of Life.

Charlie Schuck was born in 1977 on an island in the Pacific Northwest. He received his first camera ( an old broken Rollei ) at a flea market from his Uncle After working in the fishing industry in Alaska and as a deckhand for a tour boat company charlie went to work in a photo lab where he spent hours experimenting with developing and printing processes. During this time Charlie began his formal studies of commercial and technical photography at the Art Institute of Seattle. At 32 Charlie has won numerous industry awards and has traveled extensively photographing for many of the top companies, agencies, and magazines around the world. In addition to still photography Charliehas directed video spots and has a strong infinity for printed matter and design. He is still trying to forget everything he learned in school.

Robin Stein is a Seattle based artist, primarily working with photography to explore the confluence of natural and man-made landscapes. After a stint in New York City Robin returned to Seattle in 2005. He has gone on to exhibit work nationally. Currently he is in the process of completing a book based around a recent project exploring the Ohio River Valley and Appalachians Mountains.Robin is also a member of the music project Flexions.

Christian Hansen and Ryann Donnelly are two artists from different fields, film and music respectively. Without You Here We Are is an experiment for both artists, an exploration into a new medium. Here they emphasize the use of basic lines and shapes, incorporating elements of glass and phrases in search of ways to grapple with their own experiences on set and on tour.

"By trade I make things to look at, movies mostly but also still images of sorts. My venture into painting on glass arose out of a love for typography and the need to constantly experiment. It began with optical titles, a dance film, and a picture I found while snooping on my friends computer. It now continues with chemical inhalation headaches and somewhat improved line work. This work or experiment rather is very much in progress, however I generally find the process just as fascinating, if not more so, than the final product. Perhaps you agree?

Eamonn Parke Hails originally from Boise, Idaho. His photography captures, admires, and criticizes the health and beauty of life. Eamonn’s motivation stems from an admitted fear of forgetting his own existence, and therefore documents his environment, both familiar and strange. Into the Ether is a collection of anonymous notes, rants, manifestos, confessions, love letters, and the utterly indecipherable compositions left in the typewriters at 20twenty.

For the past five years, before each vintage typewriter is sold, we've grabbed that piece of paper that folks have been typing away on, ostensibly to test the quality of the typewriter, but more often than not, also leaving something behind. That something, for better or worse, is this show....it's mundane, it's confessional, it's juvenile, absurd and funny, and sometimes even slightly poetic. Completely anonymous conscious and unconscious ramblings, sent straight into the ether...

Anna Wetzel is a Seattle based artist, born in Kansas City, Missouri. Through a new series of self portraits, Anna Wetzel constructs an identity of power based on domestication of the supernatural animals in our midst. Portraits of Fiction explores the process of collage through found photographs. Julia Salamonik detaches images of people from their surroundings and delicately tucks them away into understated yet striking scenes. All at once simple and quiet they each have a slightly playful side to them.

Born into a tight knit Polish family, Julia grew up amidst a strong cultural tradition of storytelling. She recently graduated from the University of Washington where she studied Photography and Slavic Languages and Literature.

A group Show curated by Alexa Anderson

Opens Saturday July 11th at 7 pm (Ballard Artwalk), and runs through August 5th.

Light, Sound, Repeat is a group show featuring locals Joey Bates, Laura Kinney and Carlos Esparza. This show challenged the artists to visually represent light, sound and repetition in any way they wished. Working independently of each other, they each interpret these three ideas in distinctly different ways.

Carlos Esparza:
For Light, Sound, Repeat, i am exploring the limits of intellectual property and just what it means to "make an image.' Residence is a exhibition of several parallel bodies of work by Seattle based artist Robin Stein. Through photographs and collage, subtly spectacular objects and structures are presented as monuments to the fantastic possibilities within familiar landscapes. Houses lifted out of the ground, a forest of crystals, the natural origami of receipts, and the surreality of agriculture all factor into to this brief collection of the artist's recent works.

Robin Stein is an artist living and working in Seattle, Washington. While initially focusing on photography, in recent years his work has expanded to incorporate installation, sculpture, fabric-works, collage and moving images. He is a member of the collaborative music project Flexions.

Artist Bio:Stacey Rozich is a Seattle-based artist and Illustrator. Old children's books, graphic novels and comic art are some of her biggest artistic influences; yet Slavic folk tales are the largest driving force behind this series. After studying Illustration at California College of Arts in San Francisco she has come back to her own homeland to continue producing and developing several series out of her studio in Pioneer Square.

Artist Statement about the series: In a nod to her Yugoslav background, "Homeland" works traditional costumes and folklore into a storybook world of warrior women and ghoulish monsters. While using a bold and simple palette for her folk pieces, a cartoon-like quality can be seen in the character design and execution. Striking patterns set off the delicate features in each portrait. Likewise with the creatures, texture and color are used to convey intimidation and reverence. Each piece stands alone in meticulous craft and all together as a vibrant tale waiting to be told.

Artist Bio: Christian Hansen is a Seattle based photographer and cinematographer who has been making pictures for nearly a decade. In addition to his still series at 20twenty, his motion picture work has screened at numerous festivals and been broadcast nationwide. He is currently developing his first feature film.

Artis Statement: Let me just start by saying that like any other photograph ever taken, these are stuck in a very brief moment in time. One two hundredths of a second to be exact. All taken within a few days of each other a little less than a year ago.

They depict people, all of whom are my friends and family, in their homes. These people sit and stoop and crouch and stand within the confines of their bedroom or living room.

The idea was to take a person, who I knew and loved, put them in a setting where they were most comfortable and photograph them. We would sit there for an hour or two or three talking, while I would hit the shutter.

I wanted to communicate what all of these people mean to me and how I might describe them in a single frame.

These are the most important people to me in the world and though you may not understand why from the solitary photo perhaps you will be able to identify with some attribute of it. Perhaps you will develop a relationship with the photo itself.

Some of the couples have since split ways; while many of the singles have since found a chosen one. Long hair has been chopped, short hair grown. Homes have been moved across town or to a different state entirely, a different coast.

These are my dear friends.
